Every project is unique, and so is our approach. By engaging early, we collaborate closely with architects and engineers to interpret the code in ways that align with both creative goals and safety imperatives. Through open dialogue and practical insight, we turn complex regulations into clear design strategies that advance Fire, Life Safety, and Health performance while preserving design integrity.

NSP was founded by Nicole St-Pierre in 2019. Nicole has worked in the building and construction industry for over 10 years and provides consulting services for all types of different buildings. She specializes in the application of the Ontario Building Code (OBC), as well as the National Building Code. NSP also provides services for review of compliance with the Ontario Fire Code. Nicole also teaches the OBC course at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). She also guest lectures at University of Toronto, John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design.
NSP provides high level review of architectural drawings, developed methods of compliance with the Ontario Building Code and the Ontario Fire Code, developed alternative solutions, compliance alternatives and worked on innovative solutions to address technically challenging projects. NSP has also reviewed and been involved in a number of mass timber buildings and dealt with the challenges that such buildings bring to compliance with the Ontario Building Code.
NSP also prepares and develops Alternative Solutions, where compliance with the OBC challenges and undermines architectural visions. NSP thrives on active participation throughout the design phase, and strives to provide thoughtful insight at all stages of development.
Nicole has worked on several community centre and assembly buildings, through her former employment with David Hine Engineering Inc., as well as with NSP.
